Janis A Mclean
..Executive Chef RedDog cafe, DC


In 1993 Janis quit her corporate job and ran away to cooking
school and hasn’t looked back ! She keeps busy both inside
and outside the kitchen with a burning passion for cooking
(and eating!) tasty seasonal food. As executive chef of
redDog Cafe, she helped launch the Silver Spring restauran
t to critical acclaim (www.reddogcafe.com).
She is a graduate of the professional program at
L’Acadamie de Cuisineand trained in France as well.
Janishas also spent time in kitchens around DC
and is a former sous-chef of both the Morrison-Clark Inn
and Red Sage. She is also a Director, for La Varenne,
the famed cooking school in Burgundy, France and
works closely with Anne Willan on a variety of projects.




Janis can also be seen on the TV
Foodnet Work hit – Food Fight as
a contestant in one of the DC based
episodes. She has also been a guest
speaker at several Smithsonian programs. And is an active membe rof Women
Chef’s and Restaurateurs,
Les Dames d’Escoffier, and IACP
(Int’l Association of Cooking Professionals).

She lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with her
husband Bruce and their dog Ursa.
